Maya Nicole Owens, the daughter of Eugene and Debra Owens, is a graduate of Hazelwood Central High School. She was inducted into the National Honor Society and received a Community Service Award for completing 100-plus community service hours. She was co-captain of the varsity cheerleading team and a member of the women’s choir. Her extracurricular activities outside of school include studying dance competition at Best Dance and Talent Center. She volunteered at Prairie Commons Library, Hazelwood Central PTSA, and T.E.A.M. Food Pantry. During her FASHIONETTA™ experience, she performed various community service projects: Thanksgiving canned goods drive, Christmas toy drive, Motion for Kids Christmas celebration, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.®, Gamma Omega Chapter - MLK Day Sunday Supper honoring veterans. Maya plans to attend Hampton University to pursue a major in political science and criminal justice. Her ultimate career goal is to be a criminal justice judge.
